Ret. LTG John Evans Jr joins Tactical Labs to help make aviation safer.
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO — October 14, 2025 — Tactical Labs, a leader in advanced materials and engineering for aerospace and defense, proudly announces the appointment of Lieutenant General (Ret.) John R. Evans Jr. as our Chief Military Advisor.

A decorated officer and distinguished aviator, General Evans brings over 35 years of service in the United States Army, culminating as the Commanding General of U.S. Army North (Fifth Army) from 2021 to 2024. In this role, he was responsible for homeland defense, security cooperation with Canada and Mexico, and defense support to civil authorities—representing one of the Army’s most critical and enduring missions.
Prior to commanding the Fifth Army, General Evans held several senior leadership positions, including:
Commanding General, U.S. Army Cadet Command & Fort Knox (2018–2021)
Commanding General, U.S. Army Special Operations Aviation Command (2016–2018)
Commander, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne) (“Night Stalkers”)
A graduate of the Naval War College, General Evans is also a Special Operations Master Aviator with over 14 years of elite flight operations experience. His leadership has shaped the future of Army aviation, special operations readiness, and officer development at the highest levels of command.
Throughout his distinguished career, General Evans has been recognized with numerous military awards and decorations, including the Army Distinguished Service Medal, Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit (with two oak leaf clusters), Bronze Star Medal (with three oak leaf clusters), and the Air Medal (with “V” device and numeral 2). He also holds the Master Aviator Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, and Combat Action Badge.
